Privacy notice
In short
Elevation Facts does not set cookies and does not run any analytics, ad or tracking code. No script on these pages keeps data in local storage, session storage or IndexedDB either. Fonts and styles load from elevationfacts.com itself, so no third-party server is contacted while you read a page.
Requests to our hosting provider
The site is served through Cloudflare. For each page you open, your browser sends Cloudflare your IP address, the address requested, a timestamp and a user-agent string. Cloudflare needs this to deliver the page and block abuse. Our basis under the GDPR is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)): serving a website is impossible otherwise. We do not ask Cloudflare for visitor-level logs and do not build profiles. Cloudflare's own privacy policy explains how long it keeps such data and where.
Messages you send
An email to hello@elevationfacts.com shows us the sender address plus the text and any attachments. We read it to answer you or to correct a figure, then delete the thread when it is closed, unless you ask us to keep it. Basis: legitimate interest in replying. We never sell these details or pass them to anyone for marketing.
Links to agencies
Source links lead to NPS, USGS, NOAA, EPA and U.S. Botanic Garden pages as published, with no tracking parameters. Those sites follow their own privacy rules.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and comparable laws you can request access to, correction or erasure of personal data we hold on you, restrict or object to its use, and receive it in a portable form. Email us and we reply within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority where you live or work.
If this site ever adds visit counting or any other data collection, this notice will change beforehand and name the tool.
